The goal of physical & hand therapy is to make movement and activity easier, reduce your pain, restore muscular function and strength, and help you return to your pre-injury activities, work, and recreation. Our goal is to assist individuals in achieving a successful return to normal function and activity through symptom management, mobility, strengthening, and patient education.
The specialty-trained physical & hand therapy experts at Olympia Orthopaedic Associates provide comprehensive therapy and rehabilitation services for patients. These services include conservative injury treatment, pre- and postoperative treatment, and spine care and management. What is a Hand Therapist?
A hand therapist is a licensed occupational or physical therapist who has undergone extensive training to specialize in the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of hand and upper extremity injuries and conditions.
To receive a certified hand therapist designation (CHT), at least three years of experience in the therapy field and 4,000 hours of hand therapy practice, or upper extremity rehabilitation, are required. CHTs must also pass a certification exam and undergo continued education to renew their credentials every five years.
