About Dr. Rodriguez Fontan

Dr. Rodriguez Fontan is an orthopaedic and hand surgeon who works closely with each patient to develop treatment plans tailored to their goals and lifestyle. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado and subsequently completed a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Following his fellowship, Dr. Rodriguez Fontan and his family relocated to the Pacific Northwest, where he practices medicine with a strong commitment to both his patients and his family. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children exploring the forests, hiking, and being immersed in nature.

Born and raised in Argentina, Dr. Rodriguez Fontan earned his medical degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, an experience that shaped his approach to medicine through a strong emphasis on humanism, perseverance, and service. This international foundation, combined with advanced surgical training in the United States and his relocation to the Pacific Northwest, informs a practice that values both technical excellence and meaningful patient connection.

His focus is on restoring function, relieving pain, and helping patients return to the activities that matter most to them. “To cure sometimes, to relieve often, to comfort always.” Inspired by the clinical insight of Dr. René Laennec and the compassionate philosophy of Dr. Paul Brand, he believes medicine is not only about treatment, but also about listening, understanding, and empowering.

Pain is often the body’s way of communicating that something important needs attention. Dr. Rodriguez Fontan helps patients interpret that message, regain control, and find a path forward. He strives to practice medicine that is technically sound, collaborative, and deeply human.
