About Yo

Shimada

Yo as he prefers to be known by patients, joined Dr. Moore at the Westside Clinic in the fall of 2022. He started out in Georgia at the Eastside Orthocare & Joint Replacement Center at their outpatient clinic and served as a Surgical Physician Assistant at the Northside Hospital in Snellville, GA after completing his rotations. Yo graduated from Mercer University in Atlanta where he received his Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies. He also holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Cal State University Fullerton (CA) where he also received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training (Magna Cum Laude, Dean’s List, and Golden Key National Honor Society).

Yo has also been an active volunteer with both high school sports medicine programs and refugee health day clinics. Born in Japan, Yo moved to California with his family at 16, he is still fluent in Japanese. He loves backpacking, paddleboarding, running and hanging out with his rescue dog, Olive.
