He did his orthopedic surgery residency in St Louis at Washington University-Barnes Hospital and then a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Hughston Clinic in Columbus Georgia. Because of his love for the outdoors, he moved to Olympia in 1990 first joining the Memorial Clinic and then became a member of Olympia Orthopaedic Associates (Oly Ortho) in 2000.
Dr. Peterson has always been interested in Sports Medicine. Since 1990 he has volunteered to provide valuable services at most of our local high schools including sideline & training room medical coverage for football, basketball games, and wrestling tournaments. He worked with coaches and trainers regarding management of sports injuries, including concussion training and leads the Oly Ortho sports medicine team physicians to continue providing care and sports physicals to our school athletes. Additionally, Dr. Peterson has volunteered and provided medical coverage for the Black Hills Triathlon dating to its days at Millersylvania Park, the Capital City Marathon including recently being part of the bike mobile medical team, and the Capital City Bike Racing Team both as a volunteer and a racer (cyclocross) for the past 10 years.
Dr. Peterson is very appreciative for all the opportunities to practice orthopaedics in such a strong medical community. Thurston County has been a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
